St. Ann’s Infant and Maternity Home
Mary* and her two sons are residents of Faith House, St. Ann’s transitional housing program for impoverished single mothers ages 18 to 25 and their children. They are one of the nine Maryland families served by Faith House last year, seven from Montgomery County and two from Prince George’s. Mary works in St. Ann’s Child Care Center as an aide and her two children are also enrolled in the Center.
Her oldest son, Samuel*, has been with us for 18 months and recently transitioned to our two year old classroom. Her younger son, David*, has been at our center since he was two months old. Both boys are healthy, happy and meeting all appropriate developmental milestones. Mary has also made good progress in developing her parenting skills, improving her knowledge of child development and becoming a strong educator of young children. She would eventually like to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Together, the Child Care Center and Faith House have brought much-needed stability to this at-risk young family, and helped Mary develop the parenting and life skills she needs to eventually become a self-sustaining member of the community.
