Operation Homefront Hampton Roads
Rob is an E-5 in the USAF with 13 years of service. Extreme PTSD from 3 deployments to Iraq where he witnessed devastation and atrocities he is still unable to recount causes Rob to struggle with his emotional health. Shortly after his return, his wife experienced a complicated pregnancy which left her with significant ongoing medical issues and their son was born premature with hydrocephalus. Rob has been awaiting medical separation since Nov. 2010 due to a heart attack and currently his military duty involves month-to-month orders which often cause delayed payments in his monthly pay as an activated reservist, placing his family in an ongoing strained financial situation. Rob came to us facing eviction from his home, his water and electricity were pending shutoff within 48 hours and his gas bill had gone unpaid since the weather got warmer and heat was no longer needed in the home. His wife’s medical issues caused a loss of $4,000 per month in income and their bills continued to pile up. Operation Homefront was able to pay their rent and outstanding utilities to get Rob’s family back on their feet while they continue to wait for discharge and return home to family who can assist with their financial needs.
