Saving Darlene’s Sanity—And Her Mother

When “Darlene” called JFS in August, she was in a panic. In addition to working full time and raising two daughters, she’d spent the past year taking care of “Estelle,” her 83-year-old mother. The constant stress of caregiving was taking its toll on Darlene. She was fighting with her daughters, falling behind at work, eating everything in sight, and losing sleep. She needed help and she needed it fast.

Help came from Tina, a JFS Personal Care Aide. Tina goes to Estelle’s home four hours/day, five days/week to help her bathe and dress, walk, eat, and more. She and Estelle have become great friends, and Darlene is thrilled her mother is in such compassionate and capable hands.

“Tina and JFS saved my sanity,” said Darlene. “Mom’s getting great care and I have my life back under control.”
