Jefferson Area Board for Aging, Inc. (JABA)

My name is Mary. I am 84 years old and a JABA client. My health was very poor and I would have been evicted and homeless if it wasn’t for JABA. I wanted to tell you my story in hopes that it will inspire others to make a special gift to support the many other seniors that JABA serves.

JABA helped me in so many ways! If it wasn’t for JABA’s case manager, I don’t think I’d be here today. JABA helped me find an apartment I could afford and helped pay my electric bill. Now I have air conditioning and am no longer in danger of dehydration and heat stroke. Also, due to cancer, I wasn’t eating well and couldn’t prepare my own meals. JABA sent a volunteer to check on me and deliver meals to my home. Lastly, I am totally deaf in one ear and partially in the other. I can now hear since I have a hearing aid.

Your support today will make all the difference in the life of another senior. Your gift allows other seniors receive help from a JABA worker who coordinates in-home services such as home-delivered meals and health-care services.

I am overjoyed to share that I am happy in my apartment which is convenient to the store and post office. And, I’m cancer free! Like many seniors who have received help, I truly don’t know where I’d be without the help and support from JABA and without caring donors like you.
