HOPE for the Warriors
Healing begins with hope. Adam, a resident of Virginia, suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, reluctantly agreed to join Hope For The Warriors® for a golf tournament in Florida for Veterans Day Weekend. The golf tournament is just one of the Hope & Morale events the organization supports throughout the year. The goals of these events are to restore hope and inspire a commitment to recovery. The weekend proved to be the perfect medicine for this former Air Force Captain.
The camaraderie built between Adam and other wounded service members started an important healing process for this veteran. The honor bestowed on him by the people of the village, for serving his country, was a huge steppingstone too. From this event, Adam has continued his healing journey. Through Team Hope For The Warriors®, he was reintroduced to running and cycling and, now, he regularly participates in races. With each mile, he has gained comfort from his fellow Teammates and fellow wounded veterans. Most importantly, he has learned that it is acceptable to have post-traumatic stress disorder; he is open about his struggles and speaks to individuals and groups about his experiences. He is living life to its fullest—pursuing a new career in education and enjoying his life with his family.
Hope For The Warriors® is a national nonprofit organization that assists combat wounded veterans, their families, and families of the fallen.
