Dream Come True - Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County

Before purchasing a HFH-MC home Evelyn and her daughter, Angie, lived in a two bedroom apartment with six people. This was due to the fact that Evelyn could not afford rent in Montgomery County on her salary as a medical assistant. Evelyn and Angie slept on bug infested mattresses in the living room. It has been a dream of Evelyn’s to provide her daughter with a stable place to live and a room of her own. After applying to the HFH-MC homeownership program several times, Evelyn finally found out that she would become a homeowner. Over the course of several months, Evelyn worked alongside dedicated HFH-MC volunteers to rehabilitate a vacant, foreclosed home.

Evelyn and Angie moved into their HFH-MC home 6 months later. Evelyn now makes affordable monthly mortgage payments due to a 30 year, 0% interest mortgage provided by HFH-MC. Evelyn and her daughter’s lives have been changed forever.

There are many more families like Evelyn’s who are struggling to provide a good life for their children. Countless families spend over 50% of their income on rent to live in crowded and unsafe conditions. HFH-MC offers a solution to the problem of high rent in Montgomery County.
