Making A Difference

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Service Trust

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Service TrustSergeant Bobby Lisek recalls very little about Dec. 11, 2004 -- the day that his Bradley fighting vehicle was destroyed by an improvised landmine. “I remember they were shooting at us as the vehicle burned. My fellow soldiers saved my life that day,” says Bobby.

The explosion that destroyed his vehicle, cost Lisek his left leg, broke his face in six places and left him with one of the most common injuries of the war, brain trauma.

Bobby, now married with a young daughter, says he lives to honor the soldiers who saved his life. While the severe nature of Bobby’s injuries has taken him ‘out of the fight,’ he stands up for his fellow disabled veterans!

“There is a world of unanswered needs for people who were injured in Iraq, Afghanistan, and in past wars,” Bobby says. “We owe it to them to do everything we can for our veterans and their families.”

That’s why Bobby stands behind the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Service Trust. By supporting the Trust, donors support a wide variety of programs that enable prosthetics research, PTSD support, care for families, transportation to medical care and other initiatives that make a difference in veterans’ lives.

“Freedom Really Isn’t Free,” says Lisek. “These men and women deserve our thanks. When people support the DAV Charitable Service Trust, they’re giving these guys and their families the chance to make the most out of their lives.”
