This past April, we received an urgent call from the Animal
Hospital. An Animal Control Officer had just brought in an injured dog
that appeared to have been hit by a car. Scraped, bruised, and with his
tail severely damaged, "Phillip" needed immediate attention or he would
have to go the Pound or be put to sleep. Despite his injuries, the staff
at the Animal Hospital were impressed with the stray dog's kind and
sweet disposition. The vet took a special interest in his case
and called BHS… could we help?
The BHS maintains an Emergency Fund for situations such as these and
agreed to pay for Phillip's surgery. Along with surgery, all of his treatments were updated as well. A few days later, he was moved to a foster home. After several weeks of painful recovery, he started gaining weight and his coat became thick and shiny.
Phillip is a wonderful, easy-going, fun-to-be-around dog. He gets along
with other dogs and cats and likes to sit and be petted. Phillip will
also "talk" to you when he feels he needs more attention. After all that
he's been through, animals like Philip deserve a caring home.
Funds raised from CVC will go to help animals in situations like Phillip’s. Without funding, we are paralyzed from helping the animals of Bedford County and City.
Bedford Humane Society, Inc. is a recognized Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign charity # 3508
