Komen Richmond raises funds each year thorugh the "Race for the Cure", special events, and the generosity of individual and corporate donors. Those funds are placed right back into the community thorugh Komen's well-established grants program. Presently, Komen Richmond is funding 11 innovative projects that total nearly $500,000. In additon, Komen Richmond funds some research through the national level organization of the same name with grants of more than $100,000. Presently, Komen Richmond funds eleven innovative grant projects which directly impact breast cancer patients. Some current grants are investigating treatment options, mammography disparities and guidelines, early detection, and prevention strategies.
